Rickey Allen Shealey, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the age of 71.
Born on July 6, 1953, Rickey dedicated his life to service, family, and faith. He honorably served his country as a Sergeant 1st class (E-7) in the U.S. Army, including with the 3rd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, among other notable assignments. His leadership, strength, and loyalty left a lasting mark on those who served alongside him.
Rickey is survived by his devoted wife, Renee Shealey of Quinton, Alabama; his children, David Shealey and Stacey Shealey, both of Quinton; and his grandchildren: Autumn Shealey of Birmingham, Michael Shealey of Homewood, Addison Thursby of Quinton, and Braden Shealey of Quinton. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Harper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertie Mae Thomas and Robert E. Shealey; his siblings, Rod Shealey, Cynthia Lynn Watts, and George Wayne Shealey; and his beloved son, Scott Shealey.
Rickey will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep commitment to family, and unwavering patriotism. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and the countless lives he touched with his steady presence and kind heart.
Funeral service will be held at Bell Funeral Home Sumiton Chapel on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 10:00AM, the visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Stephen Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Freewill West Jefferson Cemetery.
