Editor’s note: This is the first of FOUR interviews which lead up to the Shoals Premier of “Muscle Shoals” which appears at “The George Lindsey Film Festival.

MUSCLE SHOALS – When  the film, “Muscle Shoals” premiers locally at the Marriott Conference Center, Rick Hall, Jimmy Johnson, Rodney Hall and David Hood will be among a panoply of folks who have waited many years for this sort of recognition. The critically acclaimed documentary that captivated audiences at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and just received Top Prize at the Boulder International  Film Festival, makes its debut in The Shoals on February 27. It will also be screened at The University of North Alabama on March 1. Tickets for the Marriott screening may be a bit too pricey for some at $100.00 each, however UNA tickets are a bit less at $20.

The Quad-Cities Daily, with the much appreciated help of Big River Broadcasting, recently conducted interviews with  Hood, Johnson and the Hall’s to get their take on the movie’s significance. And to also gain some perspective on just what it took to create hit records in this unlikely spot on the map.

Our first interview is with Jimmy Johnson, one of the legendary Swampers of Lynyrd Skynyrd  glory, and a founder of world-famous Muscle Shoals Sound Studios. Johnson talks about Rick Hall, the founder of FAME Studios; the man who gave Johnson his start; who for nearly five years wouldn’t speak to him, the nexus of everything that has happened here and who is once again Johnson’s cherished friend.
