Richmond “R.P.” Brown – Obituary

Richmond “R.P.” Brown of Arley, formerly of Mobile, passed away May 4th in Montgomery, AL. Mr. Brown, a Veteran of the United States Army, retired from the City of Mobile where he had been an instrumental figure in youth athletics in the City, the State of Alabama, and the Southeast Region.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, with funeral services following at 12:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel.  Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.

Mr. Brown is preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Hermon Brown and Dicie (Bircheat); his son Professor Richmond F. Brown and his grandson Kevin Hobson Brown along with 12 of his brothers and sisters.

Mr. Brown is survived by devoted wife Laura Frances (Green) of Arley, His son Kevin, wife Traci (McNichol) and there 2 children Cameron and Campbell of Montgomery, son John R., wife Marie (Devane) and their son Aidan Thomas Richmond of Providence, RI, daughter-in-law Professor Ida L. Altman of Gainesville, FL, “adopted” son Doyle Stewart, wife Theresa (Hecker) and their children, sister Margaret (Brown) Henderson of Cottondale and many wonderful nieces and nephews and their families.
