Funeral service for Richard Van “Dick” Ristau, age 78, of Moulton, will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marcus Lipscomb officiating.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Mr. Ristau, who died Saturday, January 20, 2024, at his residence, was born in Moline, Illinois on April 4, 1945, to Elmer Hugo Ristau and Margaret Crabtree Ristau.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim Ristau and Kenny Ristau.  He graduated from Moline High School in 1964. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years. He married the love of his life, Teresa, on May 23, 1984. He had 7 children, 13 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Dick was the owner and operator of an HVAC company as well as Ristau’s Roadhouse Bar & Grill for many years but ultimately retired in 2000 from the city and county of Denver as a building inspector. Dick and Teresa retired in Moulton, AL in 2003. For most of Dick’s life, he was an entrepreneur but his favorite job was helping others. He served as a member of the Moulton Civitan Club for 10 years. If there was something to be done, built, or fixed, he was the man! He battled dementia for a number of years. Despite spending his last months in and out of the hospital, he never lost his sense of humor. He had the great ability to make others smile and he will be greatly missed!

He is survived by 5 sons, Matthew Ristau (Sally), Albert Sandoval (Gina), Neal Ristau(Tami), Danny Sandoval (Desirae), and Joe Sandoval; 2 daughters, April Williams (Jerry) and Jennifer Ristau; 1 sister, Mary Lou Lira; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren
