Richard “Tom” Blocker – Obituary

Richard “Tom” Blocker, 75, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016. Tom was a native of Huntsville and a 1960 graduate of Butler High School. He attended Aviation Campus of Ozark Community College and while there he began racing as a hobby.

Tom’s career was Crew Chief on the Flying Crane Helicopters with the Alabama National Guard. After retirement, he worked 17 years at Raynor Garage Doors with his brother. Tom’s interests included Corvettes, NASCAR racing, and Alabama football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Earl and Margaret Blocker; his wife of 24 years, Linda Johnson Blocker; and his second wife, Dale Blocker.

Survivors include his three children: Patti (James) Keller; Donna (Ted) Seiler, and Richard (Julie) Blocker; grandchildren: Gracie and Maggie Keller, Michael and Lindsey Bailey, and Isabella and Emma DiVona; siblings: Robert (Rhonda) Blocker and Ann (Ray) Humphrey; niece and nephew: Amanda (Matt) Cantrell and Evan Blocker; and seven great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home.Chapel service will follow at 2:00 with Rev. James Harrell officiating. Burial will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery.
