A Celebration of Life Service for Richard M. Montgomery, Jr. is set for 11:00 am Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. James Voyles officiating. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.A Family and Friends Gathering will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00am to service time at the funeral home.
Richard passed away on July 22, 2026 surrounded by his family at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born November 28, 1948 in Blytheville, Arkansas. He was of the Baptist faith. A 1967 graduate of Alcorn Central High School, Richard was a retired truck driver working at Worsham Bro., ITT, Gary Essary and MOPAR as a parts delivery driver throughout the area.
Richard found genuine contentment in the simple, meaningful rhythms of everyday life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting his neighbors and mowing yard. His many small acts spoke to his reliability, consideration, and the value he placed on staying connected to the people and places he called home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard M. Montgomery, Sr.; mother Lou Ola McCanless; brother, Wayne Gaines; and a sister, Janice Baker.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Katherine Kelly Montgomery; son, Richard L. Montgomery (Sheena); daughter, Lisa Montgomery; granddaughter, Michelle Montgomery; sister, Squeaky Essary (Ricky); brother, LP Baker, Jr. (Lisa); and a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Westley Essary, Cullen Essary, John Cummings, Ruben Cummings, Jody Cummings, and Casey Cummings.
