Richard Larry Warren, 69, of Mills River, N.C., passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.
Born April 1, 1944, in Florence, Ala., he was the son of the late James Oliver Warren Sr. and Etha Dell Bradley Warren. He was a graduate of Coffee High School in Florence, Ala., Class of 1963, and attended Auburn University. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Throughout his lifetime, he had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying among other things skiing, flying, and especially fly fishing. Most importantly, he was a loving husband and devoted Christian.
Surviving is his loving wife of seven years, Dee Warren; sibling, James Oliver Warren, Jr., of Vero Beach, Fla.; niece, Sue Warren McGee, of Vero Beach, Fla.; nephew, Jeff Warren, of Raleigh, N.C.; great-nephews, Carson Warren, Ty Warren, and Landon Warren, all of Raleigh, N.C., and great-niece, Lindsey McGee, of Vero Beach, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Hendersonville Church of Christ, 1975 Haywood Road, Hendersonville, N.C. 28791, with Rev. Lloyd King officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Richard Warren to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, N.C., 28731.
