Richard Glenn Minyard, 93 of Adamsville, passed away Tuesday July 15, 2025. Glenn served as a funeral director and embalmer for over sixty years, with his most recent position at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in Dora, Alabama. He was a lifetime member of the Alabama Funeral Directors Association. He was an Adamsville City Councilman for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Brookside Masonic Lodge #552 F&AM. He was a member of the Baptist faith and was a big supporter of Southern gospel singing.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Carl Minyard; parents, Richard and Lillian Minyard; brothers, Donald Ray Minyard, Sr and Gerald (Vernice) Minyard; daughter-in-law, Kelly Minyard; brothers-in-law, Marshall, Lester, and Jerry Harris.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frances Harris Minyard; daughter, Robin Gilliam and her husband, Charles; Billy Minyard and his wife, Kari; grandchildren, Justin Gilliam (Karissa); Chantel Reeves (Greg), Raina Gilliam, Michella Norris (Travis), Michael Minyard, Madison Minyard, Connor (Meagan) Minyard, Tucker Stanley, and Peighton Stanley; great grandchildren, Ryan Reeves (Gracie), Landon Rogers, Laurel Johnson, Hunter Minyard, Colton Gilliam, Carter Norris, Charleigh Gilliam, Emersyn Norris, great-great grandchild, Adalynn, and many other family members and dear friends.
Funeral service for Glenn will be at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 am in the chapel. Bro. Wade Peoples will officiate. Interment to follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the chapel from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
