Richard E. (Buddy) Nelson, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025. He was born on February 4, 1935 and lived his entire life on East St, in Athens, AL. He was predeased by his parents Mollie and Ebby Nelson, siblings J. B. Nelson, Jack Nelson and JoAnn Nelson Bradshaw.
Richard E. (Buddy) Nelson, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025. He was born on February 4, 1935 and lived his entire life on East St, in Athens, AL. He was predeased by his parents Mollie and Ebby Nelson, siblings J. B. Nelson, Jack Nelson and JoAnn Nelson Bradshaw.He was a 1955 graduate of Athens High School. He served three years in the U. S. Army, primarily stationed in Berlin, Germany.
He loved to travel and antique. One of his favorite pasttimes was meals with his “Lunch Bunch”
Buddy loved his church and was a member of the First Christian Church in Athens.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
In leau of flowers the Family request donations to the First Christian Church, Athens or Manna Meals Methodist church.
Memorial service will be 2PM Saturday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home.
