Richard “Dickie” Nathaniel Cheatom, age 59 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. He was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on March 25, 1966, to the late Nathaniel and Patricia (Mello) Cheatom. In spite of his disabilities, he was quite the athlete, enjoying swimming, bowling, and wrestling. During high school, Richard competed in the Special Olympics and earned the title of “Special Olympian Champ.” He also enjoyed fishing and playing video games. Family time was special to Richard, especially family vacations, his favorite being Disney. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and for being a prankster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Francis Cheatom; and four-legged best friend, Oreo. Richard is survived by his loving siblings, Virginia Cheatom, Donna (Derek) Sartrys, Elizabeth Sousa, and Daniel (Laurie) Cheatom; nieces, Amanda (Jimmy) Sweeton, Melissa Macleod, Samantha Aguiar, and Emily Sousa; nephews, Daniel Cheatom Jr, and Jared Sousa; great-nieces, Autumn, Hannah, Leah, Skylar, and Camryn; great-nephew, Jaxson, Levi, and Lennox; and uncles, Henry and William Mello.
