Richard "Dick" Carter Funeral service for Richard “Dick” Carter, 82, will be Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home with Phillip Hines and Bro. Walter Blackman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Houston Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 PM  to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Carter died on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at his residence. He was born January 22, 1943, in Jefferson County to William C. Carter and Hazel Verona Riley Carter.

Dick Carter lived a full life filled with family, friends, community and softball! He also enjoyed playing golf. He was a graduate of McAdory High School where he was a star athlete. He signed to play football at Auburn University and also played professional baseball for three years.

Dick served on the Hartselle City Council for a four year term as well as Morgan Co. 911 board, as president of PTO, and coached too many baseball teams to list here. He never missed a softball game played by his three granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Carter Gallet, brother, William “Bill” Carter and his wife, Carlene, sister, Mary Ann Sims and sister-in-law, Roberta Carter

Survivors include:

Wife – Sandra Carter

Two Daughters- Lysa Carter and Brandi Newman (Jeff)

Son – Clay Carter (Starr)

Three Granddaughters – Breanna Wiggonton (Max), Alysa “Roo” Newman and Richlyn “Roo” Carter

Brother – Jerry Carter

Brother-in-law – Eldred Sims

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Children’s Hospital of Alabama, 1600 7th Ave. S, Birmingham, AL. 35233.
