Richard Dale McCann – Obituary

richardRichard Dale McCann, 83, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday. Mr. McCann attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to receive his private and instrument ratings. He was a member of a Methodist church in Plainville, Indiana and a life member of the VFW and the National Rifle Association. During the Korean Conflict, he went to the Officer’s Training Program and received his rank of First Lieutenant.

Mr. McCann had a passion for model airplanes, general aviation and trap and skeet shooting. He was a member of various model airplane clubs in Daytona Beach, FL, Chicago, IL and Huntsville, AL.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley McCann; brothers-in-law, John David Lawyer (Donna Jean); Jacob Lawyer (Kathy); sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Lawyer; cousins, Don Walls and Gerald Sheetz; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Huntsville Humane Society.
