  Richard Bridges Profile PhotoRichard Amos Bridges, 79, of Amory, MS, passed away on February 28, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on July 5, 1944, in Amory, Mississippi. Richard, a Christ-follower, was a loving family man who cherished spending time with his sons and their families, especially his grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed sharing witty jokes, excelled at answering Jeopardy questions, and loved beating his own records at crossword puzzles.

Richard leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his sons Tim Bridges & wife, Karen, Jonathan Bridges & wife, Kim, and their children, Caroline (Bridges) Warrington and Anna Clark Bridges. He is also survived by grandsons Brett Bridges and Jake Bridges, and sisters Nell Flippo and Jean Patterson. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Jamerson Bridges, son Tony Bridges, parents Joe Bridges and Edna Bridges, stepmother Pat Bridges, brother Bob Bridges, sisters Judy Marshall and Joann Westbrook, and granddaughter Bethany Bridges.

Richard proudly served in the United States Navy and had a successful career as a professional welder for several area companies. He took pride in being part of the team that built the Amory Lock & Dam in the early 1980s.

He worshipped at Faith Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Richard was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels. He was a star basketball player in high school and loved defeating his sons whenever they played together.

Funeral services for Richard will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Faith Baptist Church in Amory, located at 60143 Phillips Schoolhouse Road. Visitation will be held from 1-3pm, with the service immediately following at 3:00pm.  Services will be hosted by Cleveland – Moffett Funeral Home in Amory.
