Richard A. Willerton III passed away on May 25, 2016, at the age of 73 at his brother’s home in St. Peters, Missouri.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy. He had an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from DeVry Technical Institute (1967), Chicago, Illinois, and completed a B.S. degree in Math (1989) at Athens State University, Athens, Alabama. His minor was physics. Rich retired from Tennessee Valley Authority, Muscle Shoals, Alabama. As an engineering associate in instrumentation, he calibrated radiation measuring devices used in the TVA Power Service’s nuclear plants. The year 2003 marked his twenty-ninth year with TVA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Willerton Jr and Annabel Crouch Willerton, and adoptive mother, Velma Lee McCraw Willerton. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Cole Willerton; son, Christopher L. Willerton; twin brother, Rodney (SueAnn) Willerton; brother, Bruce (Marilyn) Willerton; nephews, Ricky, Mike, and Jeremy Willerton and Rick Hampton; and nieces, Shelly Jones, Angel Hampton, and Carrie and Christa Willerton.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Grassy Cemetery with military honors. James Waddell will be officiating.
