TUSCUMBIA-Due to Saturday’s threat of rain, Dickens Festival organizers in Tuscumbia have announced plans to move the arts and crafts and food vendor marketplace of the “It’s a Dickens Christmas, Y’all” to The Roundhouse located directly behind the Tuscumbia Railway Depot, 204 West 5th St.  Scheduled music and entertainment will also move to this alternate location.

The new Tuscumbia Trolley will provide shuttle service to downtown and to festival events, which will take place as planned:

Muffins with Micky at the Helen Keller Library, 511 N. Main St.  – 9:00 & 10:30; “Scones and Moans with the Ghosts of A Christmas Carol” – 10-12:30 at 100 N. Main St., (building at corner of 5th and Main); Poetry and Music at St. John’s Church, 300 N. Dickson St. – 2:00; Holiday High Tea at the Winston Home at Deshler High School, 200 North Commons, East.

Businesses will offer their own Dickens discounts and promotions, including Milk and Cookies with Tiny Tim at Cold Water Books at 3:00 and cookie decorating at Aunt Bea’s Bakery throughout the day.  At 5:30 p.m. the screening of the 1938 movie version of A Christmas Carol will be shown at the Library.

According to merchants and the Tuscumbia Retail Development committee, the Dickens Festival typically provides one of the best shopping days of the year, so they invite you to join the festivities and the Dickens characters and visit downtown Tuscumbia for all events on Saturday, where provisions have been made to keep everyone warm and dry!
