Reta Alice Moses, 83, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on April 17, 2025, at Riverside Senior Living in Decatur AL

A memorial service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Huntsville, AL on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:00 am.

Alice was born in Mapleton, Iowa to Harvey Jacobs and Charlotte McCall Jacobs on May 24,1941 and attended high school at Mapleton High School. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Athens State University. She worked in Procurement for McDonald Douglas. Later she earned her second bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Outpatient Surgery at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL for approximately 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveled all over the United States as well as overseas. As an avid runner who participated in numerous marathons, she and her husband, Ray, were torch bearers for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Over the years, she volunteered her time through Harris Homes, United Way, and the Huntsville Track Club.

Alice is survived by her husband, Ray Moses; sons, Shawn Barcal (Kristen) of Tampa, FL, Chris Barcal of North Little Rock, AR, and Kelly Barcal (Stacia) of Decatur, AL. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Shawn Barcal Jr, Amber Presley (Steven), Morgan Rogers, Ashlye Barcal, Dylan Barcal, Daniel Barcal, Hannah Barcal and Cody Barcal; and great-grandchildren, Reece Peebles, Aubrey Peebles, Lee Stallings, Carson Stallings, Patrick Stallings and Penelope Barcal.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ronald Jacobs of Iowa and Harold Jacobs of California; as well as, two sons, Patrick Barcal and Danny Barcal and daughter in law, Melia Mellard-Barcal of Arkansas.
