Ren Hawkins Brooks – Obituary

Mr. Ren Hawkins Brooks, age 73, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his residence in Columbia.

 

Private graveside services will be at a later date in Worley Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Ren was a Maury County native, born June 11, 1943 to the late Ralph Hawkins Brooks and the late Eva Nell Cooley Brooks. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a Christian. He was Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam conflict on the USS Kitty Hawk. Ren was a retired employee from Occidental Chemical and was a civil war buff. He also enjoyed medal detecting and collecting many different type artifacts. He was a member of an Alabama Archery Club and was a collector and crafted many bows and arrows. He enjoyed reading, hunting and fishing.

 

He is survived by one son; Greg Brooks of FL, two sisters; Ellen Thompson (Richard) of Columbia and Johanna Hardison of Lewisburg, several nieces, nephews, cousins and also a special friend, Susan Brooks.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Wayne Brooks.
