MONTGOMERY – Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Workforce’s Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows that in June 2026, there were 127,321 job ads posted in Alabama. This is a 2.3% increase over the month from June 2026 and a 31.3% increase over the year from July 2025.
The five occupations with the most online job ads are for Registered Nurses, Customer Service Representatives, Retail Salespersons, General and Operations Managers and Software Developers with 10,617 ads placed for those occupations in July.
In June 2026, the median advertised wage was $59,102 per year. There were 0.51 candidates for every one job opening in July 2026.
“July’s job posting data reflects continued strength and momentum in Alabama’s labor market, with more than 127,000 online job advertisements statewide—nearly 3,000 more than in June. This continued growth demonstrates that employers across Alabama are actively seeking workers and creating opportunities in a broad range of industries,” said Workforce Secretary Greg Reed.
“Healthcare, retail, hospitality, and management occupations continue to account for significant hiring activity, while Alabama’s aerospace industry is also creating exciting opportunities for job seekers, with more than 300 aerospace-related positions available. From advanced manufacturing and engineering to skilled trades and technical occupations, these openings highlight the diverse career pathways available to Alabamians and the continued growth of one of our state’s leading industries.
“The 2.3 percent monthly increase in online job ads, coupled with strong year-over-year growth and continued employer demand, underscores the resilience of Alabama’s economy. These trends also reinforce the importance of workforce development initiatives that connect job seekers with rewarding, in-demand careers and ensure employers have access to the skilled talent they need to grow.”
The top three employers posting the most online ads in July 2026 were Huntsville Hospital with 1,513 ads, Walmart Inc. with 1,232 ads and UAB Health System with 853 online job ads. The rest of the top 10 were: McDonalds’s Corporation with 820 ads, The University of Alabama at Birmingham (700), Tacala, LLC (553), Baptist Health (531), DCH Health System (374), USA Health (343), and Blue Origin with 312 online job ads listed.
