Reedy Nelson Armstrong – Obituary

Reedy Nelson Armstrong age 92 of Athens, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Limestone Health Facility. Mr. Armstrong was born January 19, 1922 in Cullman County, AL to Reedy Elmer Armstrong and Dewey Nelson Armstrong.

Services will be Tuesday, January 13, 2015 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Colin McKee and Bill Irby officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Armstrong was a member of West Hobbs Street Church of Christ. He was a World War II Veteran of the Merchant Marine. Mr. Armstrong was retired from TVA and was a longtime Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America.

Preceded in death by his parents, Reedy and Dewey Armstrong; his wife, Martha Wood Armstrong; two brothers, Jimmy and Harvey Armstrong; one sister, Sara Moody.

Survived by three sons, James Milton Armstrong and wife, Angela of Athens, AL, Wayne Nelson Armstrong and wife, Carolyn of Fayette, AL and Robert A. Armstrong and wife, Lynn of Wilmington, DE; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Black of Cullman, AL; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Roger Black, Sammy Black, Eddie Moody, Jimmy Mosteller, Hal Swartz and Jimmy Risner. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Black, Steve Moody, Dean Armstrong, Sonny Armstrong and Harold Dilworth.
