Reece HortonReece Horton, age 87, of Russellville, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2020 at Helen Keller Hospital with family by his bedside.

Reece was born on May 20, 1933 in Franklin County to Ruby (Montgomery) and Claude Horton. Reece served as a member of the Russellville City Council, Russellville volunteer firefighter, and retired from Reynolds Metal Company. Reece also served his country as a naval firefighter. He loved to fish, travel, and most of all, he loved to eat good food. He loved his family, but he loved his God most of all. He was a member of the Isbell Church of Christ. Reece has now gone to his eternal rest after suffering from dementia and a massive stroke.

Reece was preceded in death by his father, Claude Horton; mother, Ruby Horton; brother, James Horton; and sister, Eloise Horton.

Reece leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 65 years, Fronia Taylor Horton; daughter, Dr. Kay Hargett (Steve); sons, Donnie Horton and Ronald Horton; grandchildren, Daniel Horton (Sharla), Christopher Hargett, Serra Horton, Bethany Hargett Tyree (Rob), David Horton (Jessica); sister, Rena Bendall; brothers, Kenneth Horton (Marie), Glenn Horton (Ruth Ann), Raymond Horton (Judy); sister-in-law, Corene Taylor; brothers-in-law, Roy Nagle and Bob Taylor; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Due to the COVID-19 Virus, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at K.P. Cemetery in Russellville, Alabama. The graveside service will be officiated by Bro. George Hutto. Military honors will be performed. Due to the COVID virus, the family asks that you wear a mask and maintain social distance at the graveside.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Helen Keller Hospice as well as to the nurses and staff of Helen Keller Hospital.
