Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Lora Day, age 96, will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Church at Sugar Creek with Greg McFadden officiating, burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday, June 11, 2025, also at the Church at Sugar Creek.
Mrs. Day, a retired store clerk for Simmons Shoe Store and who kept the nursery at the Church at Sugar Creek for 68 years, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mrs. Day was preceded in death by; her husband Leonard day, her parents Wilfred Lewis and Mattie D. (Jones) Meals; and three brothers, Pete Meals, Bill Meals, and Johnny Meals.
Mrs. Day is survived by her daughter, Lyn Lewis and husband Rex of Gadsden, TN; her son, David Lee “Bubby” Day of Humboldt, TN; four grandchildren, Misty King and husband Jason, Michael Lewis and wife Lindsay all of Humboldt, TN, Christopher Day and wife Angela of Jacksonville, NC, and Erika Rice and husband Jay of Friendship, TN; and nine great-grandchildren, Will Tritt, Catilin Reece, Clayton King, Joslyn Lewis, Colt Lewis, Allie Day, Adison Day, Taylor Williams, and Aubree Cannon.
