Rebecca “Becky” Smith, 90, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 19, 2026. She was born in Huntsville, Alabama as the third child to loving parents. She lived in Huntsville her whole life and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Huntsville High School in 1953.

After high school, she went to work for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Coleman M. Smith, Jr. They were married for 61 years until his death. She resigned from work in 1958 upon the birth of her first son. She became a full-time mom and homemaker. When her second son was in college in 1983, she went back to her U.S. Army job, retiring in 2008 after a total of 30 years. Her passions in life were her family, playing bridge, and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Floyd Locke and Mattie Ozell Sisco Locke, her brother, Bill Locke, sister, Mary Connolly and their spouses.

Survivors include her sons, James “Jim” C. Smith (Tina), and Robert “Bob” A. Smith (Pam); grandsons, Coleman A. “Lex” Smith (Tiffany) and Nicholas “Nic” R. Smith; great-granddaughter, Emilia Rose Smith; step granddaughters, Stephanie Veesey (Gary), Sarah Shubert (Brandon), and Catie Renfroe, step great-grandchildren, Sophia Shubert, Jacob Johnson, Carter Johnson and Spencer Healy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 23 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24 at Maple Hill Cemetery.
