Rebecca Lynn  "Becky" Brown  Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Brown, age, 65, of the Hopewell community of Arab, Alabama passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Marshall Medical Center North. Becky was born June 13, 1958 in Walker County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Rufus Odell Brown and Laverne Holaway Brown. Becky was a lifelong resident of the Hopewell and Arab area. She was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Becky was a multi-talented individual and had a wide variety of interest. She was passionate about the arts and created many unique and beautiful pieces. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she used the holiday as an excuse to create, design, decorate and paint. Her display of her snow village was unbelievable. Becky had a wonderful and caring personality, a great sense of humor and a sincere love for people, especially children. She worked in the extended day program in the school for several years and tried her best to ease the burden of every child in her care. She loved the outdoors, always had a vegetable garden and usually canned her excess vegetables. Becky was intrigued by Indian history and attended many powwow gatherings. Becky was a humble, soft-spoken and unpretentious individual. She will be missed.

Family members left behind to cherish their beautiful memories of Becky include her mother, Laverne Brown; sister, Teresa Smith (Tom); and brother, Donnie Brown (Martha).

Becky was preceded in death by her father, Rufus O. Brown and her beloved grandparents, Herman and Bertie Holaway and Dave and Leona Velma Brown.

Becky’s evening visitation service will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Arab, Alabama. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. She will lie in state from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Officiating the services will be Brother Michael Lackey, Brother Jerry Burgett and Brother Patrick Johnson. Pallbearers escorting Becky to her final resting place in Hopewell Cemetery will be Jeffery Childs, Steven Childs, Larry Haney, Lanny Haney, Patrick McCrackin and Richard Maze. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Atchley, Steven “Randy” Banister, Dusty Maze and Brian Childs.
