On Sunday, December 28, 2025, Rebecca “Becky” Johnson James, 60, resident of Ripley, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett following an extended illness.

Per the family’s request, no service is planned at this time.

Born on April 7, 1965, in Haytime, MO, Becky was the daughter of the late Vester Junior and Martha Faye Alott Johnson. She received her education from Holly High School in Holly Springs, Mississippi and was employed as a Certified Nurse Assistant until her health began to decline. A “people person”, Becky was passionate about her community and being able to help others. Through her trials on earth, she maintained a peace beyond all understanding which she always attributed to trusting her faith, family and friends. Those who knew Becky will remember her sweet spirit and zest for life. She leaves many cherished memories for her family and friends to remember for many years to come.

Those left to treasure her memory include her daughter Erin Whittamore of Memphis, a sister, Debra Palmer of Ripley and four grandchildren, Vanessa, Gabriel, Sophia and Ilene Whittamore.

The Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share memories.
