Rebecca “Becky” Barnes Speegle age 66 of Athens, Alabama, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, with family at her bedside. She was born August 3, 1955, in Limestone County to William Ed and Ruth Dugger Barnes.
Becky was retired from Athens City Schools, a homemaker, and faithful Christian. When she wasn’t enjoying her family, you would find her keeping a tidy house or grooming her yard. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, caring for others, shopping and decorating for all holidays throughout the year.
Survivors include her husband, Ricky D. Speegle of Athens, Alabama; her daughter Amanda Drake and husband Chad of Athens; stepchildren Pamela Corry and husband David, Matthew Speegle and wife Kaylee all of Cullman; seven grandchildren, Allie and Jamison Drake, Aubrey and Jett Corry, Norah, Evie, and Edith Speegle; brothers Lloyd Lane, Billy Barnes, Jack Barnes, and Bobby Barnes, all of Athens; sisters Ann Brown, Edna Gee, and Barbara Goode, all of Athens.
Preceded in death by her parents William Ed Barnes and Ruth Dugger Barnes; daughter, Sebrina Dawn Sides; and brother Johnny Lane.
Funeral will be Saturday, February 19th, at 2:00pm, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Bro. Lewis Givens of Hayden, Alabama, officiating. Visitation is Saturday from 12:00-2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sandlin Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Lane, Billy Barnes, Jack Barnes, Bobby Barnes, Jamison Drake, and Will Goode.
