Ms. Rebecca Ann Drake, age 56 of Big Cove, died Thursday at South Hampton Nursing Home. A native of Madison County, she graduated from Madison County High School in 1976. She enjoyed music and a member of many musical organizations throughout her life. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. The family wishes to express that appreciation to South Hampton Nursing Home’s and Southern Cares Hospice’s staff for being loving and attentive.
She was preceded in death by her parent, Gilbert and Helen (Gentle) Drake, three sisters, Gayle Scott, Rhonda Drake, and Valerie Drake, and two brothers, Jerry Drake and Harold Drake.
Ms. Drake is survived by two sisters, Jane Drake of Big Cove, Carol “Bonnie” Sanders and husband James, of Elkton, TN, brother Tommy Drake, and wife Charlene, of Big Cove, brother-in-law, Edward Scott & wife, Vickie, of Meridianville, sister-in-law, Barbara Drake, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville. The family will receive friends Monday, August 11, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00PM at Lakewood Baptist Church. Ms. Drake will lie-in-state Tuesday beginning at 11:00 am at Lakewood Baptist Church. A service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Terrell Boyd, Rev. Ricky Beck, and Rev. Rob Peavy speaking. Interment will follow at Neal’s Chapel Cemetery, in Big Cove, AL.
