Rebecca A. Sumner was born on September 26, 1933, in Limestone County, Alabama, to George Washington Tribble and Willie Pearl Tribble.
She spent most of her childhood in Ardmore and Athens, Alabama, before moving to Michigan where she met and married Gene Sumner in1955.
They began married life in Pontiac Michigan before relocating to Lake Orion Michigan.
Upon retirement from the U. S. Postal Service in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, she and her husband moved to the Baileyton, Alabama, area and became very involved within the community and the Baileyton Senior Citizen Center where she made life-long friends whom she dearly loved. Rebecca was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star.
Rebecca was survived by husband, Gene Sumner; children, Dewayne Sumner and wife Susan, and Michelle Fisher and husband Jim Fisher; one grandchild, Michele Sumner; brother, Ray Tribble and his wife Margaret of Cullman, Alabama; many nieces and nephews; and many grand-animals!
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deborah Sumner; and brother, Douglas Tribble.
There will be no service at this time and in lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Research.
