Mr. Raymond Staggs was born in Wayne County, TN on may 29, 1939 to his parents the late Mr. Bud Staggs and Mrs. Stella Brewer Staggs. He spent his childhood in the Clifton, TN area developing a strong love for the outdoors, especially a love for horses. Later in his adult years, he chose logging as his profession and especially enjoyed working with his horses. Mr. Raymond would meet and marry his wife Mrs. Carolyn Lucille Crews Staggs and the two would remain married until her passing on January 19, 2025. Together they raised their family and set deep roots making Clifton, TN their forever home. In his leisure time, Mr. Staggs enjoyed watching “westerns” on television but he held no other moments closest to his heart than the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Raymond Staggs passed from this life on February 04, 2026 at the age of 86 years.
Those left to honor his memory include his son Mark Staggs fiancé Pam Carroll of Clifton, TN; daughter Deborah Franks of Ohio; grandchildren Mark Staggs and fiancé Lylah Riley, Tiffany Jones, Jamie Staggs, Andrea Davis, Anber Maness and Alyssa Maness; great grandchildren Leeanna Staggs, Tucker Staggs, Tanner Jones, Carleigh Staggs, Casen Maness, Kennady Maness, Callee Maness and Coy Maness; great great grandchildren include Lucas Davis, Hadley Wood, Ezra Staggs and Lainey Wood; as well as several nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son James Staggs; brothers Ralph Staggs and Rex Staggs; sisters Rachel Clayton, Reba Staggs and Ruby Staggs; as well as a great grandson T.J. Jones
Funeral Services will be held Sunday February 08, 2026 at 3:00 pm with Shayne Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Methodist Cemetery. Visitation with the Staggs family will begin Sunday at 1:00 pm till 3:00 pm service time all held at the Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation, LLC chapel in Waynesboro, TN.
