Raymond Lester Bowers, 85 of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, at his residence. Mr. Bowers was born on November 29th, 1939, in Athens, to OZ Bowers and Cecile Vining Bowers.
Mr. Bowers is survived by his wife Kathryn Abernathy Bowers; daughter Dawn Nicholson (Steve); sons Jeff Bowers (Nancy) and Jonathan Bowers (Kristi); grandchildren Corri Johnson (Jeremy), Chris Bowers (Christie); Luke Nicholson (Ashlin), Adam Nicholson (Jensen), Charity Bowers, and Connor Bowers; great-grandchildren Tyler, Troy, Audrey, and Esther Johnson, Carson and Henry Bowers, and Tenleigh, Tate, and Silas Nicholson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and great-grandson Holden Nicholson.
Funeral services for Mr. Bowers will be Sunday, February 16th, 2025, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, February 15th, from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Reunion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Connor Bowers, Luke Nicholson, Tyler Johnson, Adam Nicholson, Chris Bowers, Jeremy Johnson, Troy Johnson, and Joel McMunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael McMunn, Ryan McMunn, Corri Johnson, Charity Bowers, Henry Bowers, Carson Bowers, Tenleigh Nicholson, Audrey Johnson, and Esther Johnson.
