Raymond Lee Murphy, 88, of Florence, passed away February 6, 2025. Visitation will be Monday, February 10 at Williams Funeral Home from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. The service will start at noon with Gary Lovette and Wayne Woods officiating and burial following in Greenview Memorial Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Myrtle Murphy; brothers, Floyd Murphy and Earl Murphy; sisters, Mildred Perkins, Louise Clemmons, Mary Ruth Farley; niece, Brenda Murphy; nephew, Darryl Murphy; granddaughter, Wendy Murphy.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Barbara Ann Murphy; children, Ronald L. Murphy (Brenda), James R. Murphy (Lydia), Phillip D. Murphy (Barbara); brothers, Johnny Wayne (Sue) Murphy of Summerville, South Carolina. Additional survivors include grandchildren Stephanie Flanagan (Josh), Cassy Hill, Kesha Durham (Casey), Zack McDonald (Kelli), Savannah Michael (Isaac), Chris Murphy (Caroline), John Murphy; great-grandchildren
Brooke Crunk, Lexie Murphy, Karley Hill, McKenzie Hill, Ella McDonald, Archer McDonald, Mable Durham, Hudson Miller, Lincoln McDonald, Mila McDonald, and
Preston Michael.
Mr. Murphy had a passion for playing bluegrass music. He worked as a machinist at Local 65 and was an active member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his work, he was a dedicated farmer and took great pleasure in making molasses.
Pallbearers are Chris Murphy, John Murphy, Terry Butler, Tommy Butler, Dewayne Wear, Josh Flanagan, Zack McDonald, and Sammy Givens.
