Raymond Hershell Vernon, Jr., 83 of Shelbyville, Tennessee died on Monday, April 29, 2013, at his home.
Born Monday, January 27, 1930 in Hodges, Alabama, he was the son of the late Raymond Vernon and the late Florence McLeskey Vernon. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Shelbyville, TN and enjoyed fishing and all sports. He coached in Huntsville, AL for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Gloria Broadfoot and Barbara Nell Vernon.
Surviving are his wife: Dorothy J. Vernon of Shelbyville, TN; sons, Randy (Kim) Vernon of Shelbyville, TN and Tim (Christy) Vernon of Huntland, TN; three grandchildren: Jami Leigh Hage, Shelley Vernon, and Chase Vernon; and one great-grandchild: Caroline Walker.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Randy Davis and Bro. Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will be in Blanche Cemetery, Blanche, TN.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
