Raymond Edward Bates better known by everyone as “Uncle Ray,” age 63 of Estill Springs, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 5, 1959, to the late Edward K. Bates and Marilyn Levebre Rhinehart. He was a “jack of all trades,” performing many jobs throughout his life, with his favorite job being a chrome polisher. An avid traveler, he visited all fifty states in our country, enjoying meeting new people, and experiencing different cultures. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Raymond never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Bates. Raymond is survived by his sister-in-law, Rebekah Bates of Estill Springs; nieces, Angela Daniels of Estill Springs, and Kristie (Shannon) Nee of Estill Springs; great-nieces and nephews, Catelyn, Corey, Joseph, and Jalynn; and four-legged friends, Simon, Little Mama, and Mrs. Bella.
