Raymond E. Lovelace – Obituary

Raymond E. Lovelace, age 78, passed away April 25, 2017. Raymond was a resident of Hot Springs, Arkansas and his childhood home of Florence, Alabama.

He was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Florence, Alabama to James Lovelace and Exa Garrett Lovelace. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Elaine Lovelace Cox and Sarah Lovelace.

He is survived by his wife, Janette Walley Lovelace; one son, Ray (Terri) Lovelace Jr.; two daughters, Phyllis Lovelace and Sonya (Jeff) Crumpton; four grandchildren, Lauren Britton, Shelby Neeve, Britten Lovelace, and Kyle Lovelace; one great-grandson, Anden Ray Britton; three brothers, Jimmy (Lou Ann) Lovelace, Bobby (Willie) Lovelace, and Donnie (Linda) Lovelace; two sisters, Virginia (Billy) West and Peggy Killen Jones; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; and a host of friends.

Raymond graduated from Central High School in Florence and was retired from Reynolds Metal Company. He was an avid Bama football fan and also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. His greatest passions, however, were his family, his music and his friends. Raymond was a top notch musician and was one of the original members of the “Five Jets” band. He was a member of Trinity Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas where he was actively involved on the worship team.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Harry Wallace officiating. All family and friends are invited to attend. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UAMS, Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, 4301 W. Markham St., No. 623-F, Little Rock, AR 72205-7199.
