Raymond Donald Aldridge “Ray”, 90, died December 19, 2023, with his family by his side in Huntsville, Alabama after a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure.

Ray was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on March 26, 1933, a veteran of the Korean War, Ray served in the US Air Force from 1952 – 1956 and graduated from Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, PA in 1960.

Ray married Marian Talley, the love of his life, on Oct 27, 1962, in Richmond, Virginia a year after they met while carpooling to work. They moved to Huntsville in 1968 with their two children, Bob and Suzanne. Ray worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntsville Center, in contracting, retiring in 1990. Then he went to work for V.W. International, Inc. until retiring for the second time in 2006 at the age of 73. Ray was a member of Weatherly Heights Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Glen and Edith Pauline Aldridge of Harrisburg, PA and brother, John R. Aldridge, of New Oxford, PA.

Ray is survived by his wife, Marian Talley Aldridge; son, Robert W. Aldridge (Virginia); daughter, Suzanne E. Maples (Ken); brother, Robert C. Aldridge, of Etowah, NC; sister, Barbara J. Polm, of Harrisburg, PA; four grandchildren, Brittany Knight Lee, Justin Knight, Ray Aldridge and Joe Aldridge; and two step-grandchildren, Jared Maples and Lauren Maples Barrett.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Dr. David Freeman officiating. No graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Weatherly Heights Baptist Church, 1306 Cannstatt Drive, Huntsville, Alabama 35803.
