Sonny King Rayburn Lee “Sonny” King, 83 of Joppa passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his residence. He was born December 9, 1942, in Marshall County the son of Silas King and Nola Mae Collins King. He worked for Walker’s Brothers before retiring. After his retirement he enjoyed his time working around the home and farm. Anyone who visited his home at any time could attest to the love he had for outdoors, especially how immaculate the yard and pasture was kept.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Wanda Smith King; siblings: Kenneth (Dorothy) King, Phillip (Winnona) King, Margie King, Viola Glass and Martha Shivers; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Silas King, mother: Nola Mae Corbin; siblings: Ricky King, Rodger King, Jerry King, Harvey King, David Ray King, Mary Smith, Leola Davidson, Nellie Patrick and Dennis Corbin.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Brother Gary Harvell officiating. The burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gober Funeral Chapel.
