Ray Windle “Bill” Patterson

Ray Windle “Bill” Patterson, 83, of Guntersville, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, just one day shy of his 84th birthday.
Born on November 4, 1942, in Guntersville, Alabama, Bill was the son of the late Albert and Margie Patterson. He grew up in the Georgia Mountain community, where he spent much of his life.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked in the construction industry for many years before retiring from Chorba Contracting in 2010. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
A quiet and reserved man, Bill was known for his strong work ethic, his sense of humor, and his devotion to his family. He found happiness in the simple things in life. Though he was a man of few words, he had a way of making those around him smile. Above all, he loved his family and treasured the life they shared together.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Sue Patterson; his son, Cole Patterson, and daughter-in-law, Beth Patterson; his brother Jack Patterson; his sisters, Bonnie Patterson Harris and Nancy Patterson Brown; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margie Patterson; his brothers, Bobbie Joe Patterson and Buddy Patterson and his sister, Polly Patterson Sparks.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville, Alabama.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, located on Foster Landing Road in Guntersville, Alabama, with Rev. Glenn Pankey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Mt. Carmel Cemetery or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
