Ray Thomas Smith, age 87 of Decherd, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lincoln County on January 23, 1935, to Hallie B. Smith. Before his retirement, he had been previously employed by the City of Estill Springs, Tennessee Tannery, Jack Daniels, as a mechanic for John L. Sanders and Kenneth Hughes, and as a mechanic for many others. He enjoyed being outside working in the yard and telling stories and jokes. But most of all, he loved being with his family. He was a member of New Beginning Church in Decherd and loved sharing his love of the Lord with others. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Alvis (Tip) and Mary Bolin. Ray is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mary Bolin Smith; children, Robin Loretta Smith of Winchester, Opel Smith of Decherd, Addie (Chris) Gilliam of Winchester, and Adam (Ashley) Bolin of Tullahoma; grandchildren, Cassie (T.J.) Barnes, Larissa Bolin, Cortney (Dylan) Stephens, Lance (Hilary Kirk) Gilliam, and Mark Bolin; great-grandchildren, Oaklee, Alexandria, Raychael, Wrenleigh, Don Thomas, and Sophia; sister, Alice (James) Smith of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, May 22, 2022, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
