Funeral Services for Mr. Ray H. Horn, age 81 of Ashland, will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Bro. T.C. Brown officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Horn passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025 at his home. He was born and raised in Clay County, a graduate of Clay County High School, and served several years in the U.S. Army National Guard, including during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Mr. Horn worked in Michigan for five years at the Ford Motor Company, the Newberry Foundry in Talladega, and for 26 years at the Anniston Army Depot as a Parts Expediter. Mr. Horn enjoyed spending time outside, tending to his garden, growing watermelons, and cutting his grass. He thoroughly enjoyed spending his time at the Ashland Senior Citizen Center, and not being interrupted during Wheel of Fortune. Mr. Horn was a quiet, yet funny man, who was full of life and wonderful stories to tell. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.
Mr. Horn is survived by two sons: Sam Horn (Christy) of Ashland, Wallace Horn of Lineville; one daughter, Lynn H. Kizziah (Daryl) of Alexander City; seven grandchildren: Chris Giddens (Kelly), Carlie Horn, Trent Horn, Libby Crawford (Colin), River Horn, Connor Horn, and Baylie Payne (Jeffrey); three great-grandchildren: Baylor Crawford, Murphey Payne, and one on the way; one brother, Bruce Horn of Ashland, plus other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas Heflin Horn and Mae Cox Horn; and one brother, Lowell Horn.
Colin Crawford, River Horn, Connor Horn, and Trent Horn will serve as pallbearers.
His visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
