Mr. Ray H. Fisher was born on September 3, 1940 in Sumter County, Alabama to the late Ray H. Seals and Bula Mae Seals. He passed on September 11, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital.

Ray was a dedicated sailor and civilian employee. He retired from the U.S. Navy in July 1984 as a Master Chief, which is the highest enlisted ranking that one could achieve. As a civilian, he worked for Abbott Laboratories and the Public Works Center at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois, where he eventually retired in 2005. He was a long-time member of the NAACP. His hobbies were: fishing, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed cooking out with family and friends. He was a dedicated sports fan and his favorite team was the San Francisco 49ers. He also enjoyed debating current events and politics with family and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his devoted loving wife, Clorice Y. Fisher; parents, three brothers, one sister and his son, John G. (Celeste) Wynn, Jr.

Ray is survived by his children: two daughters, Dawn– Richelle Wynn of Meridianville, AL and Desiree A. (Joseph M.) Cole of Waukegan, IL; two sons, Ronald A. (Diana) Wynn, Sr. of Waukegan, IL and Eric S. Wynn of San Francisco, CA; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; four sisters, Beatrice Seals, Minnie Lanier Russell, Ruby Spencer and Christine Newson; one uncle, Arthur (Annie) Roberts; one aunt, Dorothy (Monroe) Spencer; special friends, Maurice and Flossie Dawson, Len and Robin Heyne and family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Services with military honors were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Royal Chapel of Memories with Pastor Bernard Birgans officiating. Interment will be in Fort Sheridan Post Cemetery, Fort Sheridan, Illinois.

Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2016 and 8:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Royal Chapel of Memories.

A visitation will be held Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Interment will take place on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Sheridan Cemetery with Rev. Richard Grudt officiating. Please visit online guestbook at www.congdonfuneralhone.com
