Ray Gene JohnsonRay Gene Johnson passed away on October 2, 2023, following a short illness. He was 76 years old.
Ray Johnson was born in Hazard, Kentucky, on June 7, 1947, to Alberta (Downs) Johnson and Aaron Farmer Johnson.
A graduate of Hazard High School, he was a captain in the US Army and served as a Combat Signal Officer and Aviation Officer. He became a helicopter pilot and often spoke of his experiences as a pilot.
A long time resident of Lynn Haven, Florida, Ray lived with his wife, Pat (Brock) Johnson, until her passing in 2022. He relocated to Birmingham, Alabama, to live with his son, Brett, and family.
Ray is survived by his son, Brett (Michele) Johnson, daughter Denise (Rich) Taylor, stepdaughter, Missy Brock, grandchildren Lauren Taylor, Taylor Conner, Brendan Conner, and Carson Conner, and brother, Joe Johnson.
While there will be no funeral service, Ray will be buried next to his wife, Pat Johnson, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City, Florida, at a later date.
