Rapid Response Protest To ICE/Colbert County Sheriff’s Department Over The Arrest Of 11 People Wednesday Morning

TUSCUMBIA-On Wednesday Colbert County Sheriff’s Department along with Us Immigration and Custom Enforcement(ICE) arrested 11 alleged undocumented immigrants at a check point on Highway 43 in Tuscumbia.

Sheriff Eric Balentine said the operation took place on Wednesday morning around 8:30AM.  According to Sheriff Balentine sheriff’s deputies met up with ICE agents from Gadsden with Birmingham ICE agents providing intelligence equipment to conduct the checkpoint stop arresting 11 people.

In protest of the roundup a good sized group of citizens met at the Tuscumbia Courthouse to hold a rally and protest the arrest of the 11 people. Organizers for the “rapid response protest”  were 5051 and Indivisible of the Shoals.
