Ralph-Gardner-1441028631Ralph Lewis Gardner, age 87 of Cherokee, Alabama passed from this life at Keller Landing Nursing Home on August 30, 2015. Ralph was born October 19, 1927 in Petersburg, Michigan. Ralph served in the U.S. Navy, and worked hard all his life, retiring as an electrician from Jim Walter’s United Mine Workers Association.

Ralph liked to sing, dance and play the guitar, and an avid fan of all sports, especially football and the Arkansas “Razorbacks.” He enjoyed watching Tiger Woods play golf and himself played in several bowling leagues.

Ralph is survived by his wife Betty R. Gardner, three step daughters, Debra Savage (Kenneth) of Bolivar, TN; Sharon Sanford (Scott) of Parrish, AL; and Teresa Boyd of Cherokee, AL, and one step son, Michael Mosley of Sardis, AR. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and James Gardner of Wynne, AR, and sister Pauline Chambers of VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the Alzheimer’s Association (http://www.alz.org/).

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Springs Cemetery.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
