Ralph Green
November 11, 1939 – August 24, 2022
Ralph was born in Athens, AL to A. Walter Green and Hilda Beckham. They predeceased him along with his daughter, Mary Jennifer Green Crane.
His schooling included Butler H.S., B.A. and M.A in Music Education from Murray State University. Ed. Specialist and doctorate in School Administration from U of A Tuscaloosa.
Work years in public education include seven years as high school band director in KY. Moving back to HSV he served as middle school band director, assistant principal, and principal at Westlawn. He was principal at Mt. Gap for seven years before becoming assistant and then deputy superintendent of HSV City Schools. His affiliation as Superintendent Madison Co. Schools ended his time with public education.
He was hired by Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce to help develop a workforce career leadership plan. Leadership HSV was co-located at the Chamber and through them a youth leadership program was developed. Working with Base Realignment he made many trips promoting schools in N. Alabama.
He is survived by wife of 60 years, Mary Virginia (Ginny) Green and son, Damon Harvey Green (Virginia). Grandsons include Ryan Thomas Crane (Jessie), Corey Buchanan Crane, Ian Hoffhaus Crane, and Christopher Parsekian; son-in-law, Benjamin C. Crane (Kim), two first cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews
He enjoyed golf, newspapers, crossword puzzles, travel, bridge, and Alabama football. Community involvement included past president and member of Kiwanis, volunteer, and board member The Boys Club, Meals on Wheels volunteer and member Latham Methodist Church.
