Ralph Clement Herden, Sr., 88, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday. Mr. Herden was a founding member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He was a well-known engineer with the Space Program, working on unmanned missile programs through the Apollo programs, before ending his career with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Herden, and his daughter, Catherine Ann Herden. Survivors include his daughters, Mary Jean Herden, M.D., Teresa Marie Herden, and Ann Herden Locke and husband, Michael; son, Ralph Clement Herden and wife, Jennifer; and grandchildren, Alex Herden, Nick Herden, Will Herden, and Justin Locke.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with Father Michael Mac Mahon officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
