Funeral Services for Raiford Smith, 78, of Ashland, AL will be Saturday, April 18, 2026 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Bro. Noel Vickers officiating. Burial will follow at New Prospect Baptist Church.
Mr. Smith spent all his life around Clay County and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He adored Ms. Nancy and spent his last years caring for her. His greatest desire was that anyone he encountered hear about Jesus. He and Nancy loved all the family, especially the grands, and just wanted them to know Christ so they could celebrate this home going that Raiford has now experienced.
He was survived by two sons, Lynn Smith (Angie) and Harry Casey (Melissa), daughter-in-law, Darlene Casey and son-in-law, Dennis Thomas; 9 grandchildren; over 20 great-grandchildren; and the blessing of several great-great-grandchildren; several other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Nancy Casey Smith; parents Arthur R. Smith and Katie V. Smith; son, Randy Casey; daughter, Gail Thomas; brother, Arthur Junior Smith.
Active pallbearers will be Eric Smith, Colton Casey, Nicholas Miller, Nathan Smith, Ricky Smith and Wayne Smith.
Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of the arrangements.
