Rachel Elizabeth Whitehead Gay, age 93, Haleyville, AL. entered into rest on the Friday December 7, 2012 at her home with her family at bedside. Visitation will be Sunday December 9, 2012 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville. The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with Dr. Jim Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Winston Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Gay was born in Haleyville on June 4, 1919 to Jessie and Sular Whitehead. She graduated from Haleyville High School in 1938. Mrs. Gay was a member of First Baptist Church in Haleyville. She loved working in her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Sular Whitehead; husband, Luther Eason Gay; daughter, Martha Fisk; sister and brother in law, Banner and Ralph Knight; brother, Billy S. Whitehead. She is survived by her children, Rebecca Gay Tidwell and Susan Gay Walsemann, her husband Gary; grandchildren, Baryy Tidwell, his wife Tammy, Brent Tidwell, Elizabeth Walsemann Roberts, her husband Doug and Jeff Walsemann, his wife Vicky; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
