Rachel “Carolyn” Gatlin, 83, of Union Grove in the Morgan City area, went home to be with the Lord, Friday July 28, 2023 at her residence.
She was born on August 31, 1939 to Mr. Gordon Estelle Gullion and Mrs. Rosie Lambert Gullion in Hartselle Alabama.
Carolyn was a caregiver to many people in her life. She had a deep love for nurturing children and taking them in to raise as family. She showed love and support to her friends and family. She loved taking her great grand babies out for ice cream. She enjoyed gardening in her spare time. Antiques and flowers were a big part of her life. She loved cooking for her family at gatherings.
She is survived by her daughters, Maurie Martin and Kelly Stanfield; sister, Ruby “Pete” Thomas; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Rosie Gullion; husband, Maurice E. Gatlin; daughter, Regina Christine Gatlin; son, Shannon Gatlin; and brother in law, Bill Thomas.
Services for Mrs. Gatlin will be held at Brindlee Mountain Chapel, Morgan City on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Visitation will be between the hours of 1:00 p.m and 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Rescue Cemetery.
Pallbearers escorting Mrs. Gatlin to her final resting place will be Wade Gatlin, Jerry Gatlin, Dennis Gatlin, Jerry Gullion, Ronald Gullion, Larry Gullion.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Enhabit Hospice Care, 9044 Hwy 231 N. Albertville, Alabama 35950.
