Rachel Batson Hutto age 87 of Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 in Alpharetta, GA. Mrs. Hutto was born March 21, 1926 in Hueytown, AL to Eugene L. Batson and Lillie Morton Batson.
Services for Mrs. Hutto are Monday, January 13, 2014 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Robert Hutto officiating.
Rachel grew up in Bessemer, AL and attended Auburn University for one year. She and her husband, Hiram, were married for 56 years. She enjoyed helping him in her role as a preacher’s wife for more than 50 years, opening their home with gracious hospitality, and always teaching by her example of service. She loved and cared for her family deeply. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will treasure their special memories of her. She was a longtime member of Jackson Drive Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Robert Hutto and wife Cherri of Alabaster, AL; daughters, Susan Kerr and husband Gary of Bowling Green, KY, Betsy Pickup and husband Randy of Louisville, KY and Kay LaGrone and husband Russ of Norcross, GA; grandchildren, Gary S. Kerr and wife Katie, Jon Kerr and wife Elizabeth, David Kerr and wife Anna, Grant Pickup and wife Chelsea, Austin Pickup and wife Daphne, Cameron Pickup, Andrew Hutto and wife Emery, Katy Hutto, Matt LaGrone, Rachel LaGrone and Michael LaGrone; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, John Andy Batson and wife Eleanor and Bert Batson and wife Sally; sister, Betty Jo Rish.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hiram Hutto.
Pallbearers are her grandsons.
