Rachel Ann Dean Plunkett, age 76 of Fort Payne, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025. She was born on September 27, 1948 in Dekalb County.
Mrs. Plunkett was a 1966 graduate of Fort Payne High School. After high school she served our country in the United States Army and the National Guard for 8 years. She retired from the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office as a Dispatcher. She was a big warrior for Vietnam organizations. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rainsville and the Eastern Star of Rainsville.
No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
She is survived by her husband of 45 wonderful years, Gary Plunkett; children, Laura (Ian) Hardie and Corey Plunkett; grandchildren, Skylar Hardie, Makala Plunkett, Latasha Plunkett, Ireland Hardie, and Sam Plunkett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David & Aubie Dean.
