Rachael McKee Greenwell, 96, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday. Mrs. Greenwell was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Greenwell; parents, brother, sister and grandson, David Swinford.

Mrs. Greenwell was an active member of University Baptist Church. She was a leader in the Brownie Scouts and Girl Scouts. Mrs. Greenwell also served ten years as Red Cross volunteer at Huntsville Hospital and she was the first volunteer for five years at Huntsville Hospital Hospility House, now Blount House. In addition, she was a published author of poems and short stories.

Survivors include her son Gilbert (Dorothy) Greenwell; two daughters, Margarett Mott and Susan (David) Tidwell; one granddaughter; two grandsons; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held with interment at Faith Park Mausoleum with Rev. Eddie Hilderbrand officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
